About our Air Source Heat Pump Upskill Bootcamp

Our Skills Bootcamp in Air Source Heat Pump Upskill contains nationally accredited courses designed to enable plumbing and heating technicians in Cumbria to access increasing opportunities within the renewable heating industry.

The Air Source Heat Pump Upskill Bootcamp can be tailored to enable the upskill course to meet the specific needs of engineers/businesses and the opportunities available as the renewable heating industry continues to develop and air source heat pump systems become an increasingly integral part of the industry.

Air Source Heat Pump Upskill - Option One: consists of four, fully accredited BPEC qualifications:

  • Domestic Air Source Heat Pump Systems (Level 3 Equivalent)
  • Energy Efficiency (Part L)
  • Water Regulations
  • Unvented Hot Water Systems

The Bootcamp will give you knowledge and qualifications in the design, installation and maintenance of air source heat pumps, therefore allowing you access to the renewable industry, ensuring you stay competitive.

The qualifications are recognised by the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) registration bodies as an acceptable qualification to join one of their respective schemes. Joining a respective scheme will allow you and your business further access to register for incentive schemes such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Completion of the course will ensure you have the knowledge to comply with the appropriate Building Regulations and Standards and will allow you and your business to register with relevant competent person schemes allowing the self-certification of work for building control purposes.

You will be assessed on each of the four elements of the Air Source Heat Pump Upskill Course with each course having its own BPEC accredited assessment. There will be a combination of practical and theory based assessments.

Air Source Heat Pump Upskill -  Option Two: will consist of the following, fully accredited City and Guilds qualification:

  • F-Gas and ODS Regulations: Category I (2079-11) - Leak checking, recovery, installation, service, maintenance of equipment

This Skills Bootcamp in Air Source Heat Pump Upskill route is for qualified air source heat pump engineers to specialise and upskill further or for plumbing and heating engineers to specialise in opportunities in the maintenance of air source heat pumps rather than air source heat pump design and installation.

The course will consist of a Level 2 Award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations: Category I - Leak checking, recovery, installation, service, maintenance of equipment, accredited by City and Guilds and will provide engineers with a legal qualification to work with F-Gases, which is a mandatory requirement in the UK for technicians to be able to install, service, and maintain stationary refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump equipment containing fluorinated gases.

Completion of the course will ensure you have the knowledge to comply with the appropriate Building Regulations and Standards and will allow you and your business to register with relevant competent person schemes allowing the self-certification of work for building control purposes.

There will be a combination of practical and theory based assessments throughout the course.
